What is Glimpse
The History of 1st October shows
Since 1999, Spirit of David has staged epic 1st October shows which explore the relevant theme of freedom. These shows typically involve a large cast and dancers pooled from all over the country to stage what we simply call a “Wow!” production!
Glimpse Concert
This year, it is our desire to stage the next installment of these specific productions with a show titled “Glimpse”. Glimpse is a movement that will inspire Lagos , Nigeria and the world to love through acts of kindness (no matter how small) and encourage recipients to pay that kindness forward! The interpretation is simple: True and lasting social freedom begins with individual acts of love!
The Glimpse concert will feature over 50 dance routines in 2 shows. Hurry to get your ticket as registration closes in less than 72 hours, as soon as the seats are filled.
Who is involved?
About 100 professional dancers will be pooled from Spirit of David’s branches nationwide to present this fresh and original production that will certainly resonate with audiences around the world.
The show will be produced and directed by Wale “Rubber” Sodade (Chief Dance Instructor, SOD) – a seasoned dance professional and judge on various dance reality platforms in Nigeria.
Wale is supported by a team of seasoned dancers, artistic directors, and professionals in their respective fields.
Impact on the Nation
Spirit of David every year admits over 30 new young people into the club, from teenagers to young adults looking for a place to belong, grow and learn to make a difference.
In Spirit of David, young adolescents have grown into fully matured men and women. For the last 20 years, youth brimming with untapped potential and sometimes misguided exuberance have been welcomed into the club. The constant discipline of learning and executing various dances, organizing shows in several locations, raising funds, praying and fellowshipping frequently and being accountable to others on and off stage have all produced erstwhile adult citizens of the nation.
Members, who joined since inception, are now at management levels in their various careers outside the club and are also parents of young teens. They are however still active in dance and administrative duties of the club.
Spirit of David has become home to them and continues to be a close knit family of like-passioned people who are imbibing leadership and followership principles as well as forming lifelong friendships and partnerships.
Registration has begun in earnest for Glimpse Concert – Spirit of David’s 20th Anniversary, 1st October Show at the Banquet Hall, National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
